Players guide...DISAPPOINTMENT!
I bought the players guide for guild wars a little while ago and while i was shuffling through it i noticed quite a few errors such as: wrong skill rewards for class (give them to wrong class completely), some weapons that do not even exist in-game, and its near impossible to find elite skills using it, it is also missing some maps for areas in game thus makin it even harder to find elites
I guess I expect more from a players guide that I pay $20 for

It's a guide that's made a long time ago. Most of the guide is based on the beta.

Most errors are due to the fact that ArenaNet has changed the game since the book came out. It says when you buy it that it is correct [I]for the time it was produced.[I]
I have it too (got it when it came out) so I have seen the changes. There isn't much you can do about it, its out-of-date. The maps still work, and MOST skills are still the same as in the book.
Just got to deal with it. 90% of all books about a Online game are wrong not becasue the people writing it are retarded, but the game [I]changes.[I]

I bought it, I hated it. There was very little information on lots of things, it did, however, help me find out all the bonuses for missions. Other than that, and maybe a good bathroom read, it's worthless.

lol yup, this is the problem with guides. Even for singleplayer games, patches get released which change things. For example, my Diablo 2 strat guide (which was amazing, might I say, well done Prima) is way out of date now. It doesn't have synergies in it or anything lol.
And with Guild Wars under going minor changes every week, its hardly surprising it's out of date. I'm curious who made it though, can you inform us? Just that like I say, I know Prima and, er... brady? are usually pretty good, but if there are wrong skills and stuff in there I'm curious as to the publishers/writers.

I have one, I enjoy reading it when I'm bored or idle the fact that turning a page takes less time than finding a link makes it perfect for finding a map in a hurry

Fairly sure he is refering to the prima guide.
I bought it when the game was released and some of the info was missing or wrong from the start but I agree with Lasareth it is nice for having easy access with the turn of a page.
While alot of things have been changed for balance since it's release I still find it very helpful for researching skills and making new builds as well as a nice place to look up info without overworking the mods on guru buy posting questions that have been asked 100 times before.
Bye the way what is max damage on a sword?

I've found the guide to be quite helpful on many occasions. Some of the way it's laid out I'm not impressed with, and yeah there's some errors and ommissions - but I'd rather refer to it first while in-game, just to save some time.

We've known the Prima guide already had inaccuracies since its release, and that was a long time ago.

There're more threads on it, though I can't find them at this time.

Bought it for my daughter and myself the day it hit the stores, and just pen in the changes that occur. Good quick reference IMO, as long as you add notes and keep it updated.

Note to the wise, never buy an online game's strategy guide for the information. Due to the constantly changing world this information will soon be out dated, if you buy the book for any reason make it the art.

GW constantly changes, and the book doesnt. Never buy a guide for a game that changes..

Yes, the big map is what I use the most now. It helps for some of those quests in Kryta where you have to go to Ettins back and other places like that. I always forget what town it is near. I mix up those Kryta cities and areas all the time.
The book is also good as a rough guide to coming up with some builds. I read over them to get an idea, then go in-game to find how close they are to what it originally was. Most skills are the same or close to how they were when the game started. The maps for bonuses was useful when I first started, then I just memorized them. Also being able to find out which skills are not available through quests helps out on whether I should just buy it or find the quest to get it.
